The porcupines (Hystricidae) are a family of rodents with 11 species that are found in parts of Asia, Africa and southern Europe. With body lengths of up to over one meter, the animals are among the largest representatives of rodents in the world. At Thale Zoo, the animals are among the most popular inhabitants with visitors.
